No. 2 Lakers face Division III Wisconsin-La Crosse

Grand Valley plays its second Top 25 opponent in the season's first three weeks when Division III powerhouse Wisconsin-La Crosse visits Lubbers Stadium this weekend.

Ranked No. 5 in Division III, Wisconsin-La Crosse meets the Lakers on September 21, as part of Family Weekend festivities. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Coaches in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) selected the Eagles as the favorites to win their third straight WIAC title, while two players - placekicker Michael Stack and receiver Jack Studer - were named to the preseason All-America team.

Wisconsin-La Crosse improved to 2-0 last weekend after beating Northern Michigan. The Eagles rolled up 443 total yards of offense (103 rushing yards and 340 passing yards) in their victory over the Wildcats.

The Lakers enter Saturday's contest after beating Colorado State-Pueblo, 24-21, by holding off a fourth-quarter rally by the ThunderWolves.

Grand Valley's dominant rushing attack, which tallied 239 yards, was key to controlling time of possession.
