HONOLULU, June 28, 2024 - Hawaiian Electric crews will replace a utility pole along 16th Avenue in Kaimuki on Tuesday, July 2, and Wednesday, July 3, impacting area traffic and street parking from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days.
The work to improve system reliability will close a portion of the southbound lane of 16th Ave. between Harding and Pahoa avenues with traffic contraflowed. Street parking, sidewalk access and some residential driveways will be restricted in the work zone. Affected customers have been notified.
Safety signs and traffic cones will mark the lane closure and direct motorists to the contraflow lane. Special duty police and flagmen also will provide onsite traffic control and direct pedestrians to the opposite sidewalk.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution when approaching and passing the crews at work, expect traffic delays or find alternate routes.
