O'Connell Invites Community to Attend 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

Taunton, MA… Mayor Shaunna O'Connell announced today that the City of Taunton will host its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. This year, the ceremony will be held in the evening to allow more residents the opportunity to attend in honor of the victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, as well as their families and the first responders who bravely answered the call for help.

"Each year we gather as a community to remember the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and civilians who lost their lives on September 11th. This day serves as a reminder of the strength, resilience, and unity that defines us as a nation. We must never forget the profound impact of that day, nor the lessons it taught us about the power of coming together in the face of adversity," O'Connell said.

The 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will take place at 2 Hamilton Street (former Coyle Cassidy High School Auditorium) at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Daniel Clark, the "Singing State Trooper," will be performing once again. All members of the community are invited and encouraged to attend.

Taunton Fire Chief Steven P. Lavigne appreciates the importance of recognizing the bravery of first responders, stating, "As we remember the events of September 11th, we honor the bravery of those who risked and gave their lives to save others. Their courage is a source of inspiration for all of us in the fire service, and we are committed to carrying on their legacy by serving our community with the same dedication and selflessness."
