Items to Watch for the September 18th Board of Governors’ Meeting

The Florida Board of Governors will hold a meeting at the University of South Florida on September 18. Highlights of the meeting agenda include:

Strategic Planning Committee

  • Consider the proposals for the 2024-25 Linking Industry to Nursing Education (LINE) Fund.
  • Receive an update on accreditation and the 2025 Strategic Plan.
  • Approve the 2024 System Accountability Plan.

Facilities Committee

  • Approve the 2025-26 Fixed Capital Outlay legislative budget request.

Budget & Finance Committee

  • Review the 2024-25 State University System Operating budgets.
  • Approve the public notice of intent to amend Regulation 9.009, Preparation of State University System Financial Statements, and repeal Regulation 9.010, State University System Consolidated Financial Statements.
  • Approve the Student Success Plan for Florida Gulf Coast University and the Business Plan for New College of Florida.
  • Approve the 2025-26 State University System and the 2025-26 Board Office legislative budget requests.

Audit & Compliance Committee

  • Discuss the audit summaries conducted during 2023-24.
  • Receive an update on the investigation results regarding FAMU's major gift.

Academic & Student Affairs Committee

  • Receive an update on post-tenure reviews.
  • Discuss the importance of civil discourse and the American political order.
  • Approve the addition of a new civil discourse course created by the Hamilton Center at the University of Florida to meet the Civic Literacy requirement.
  • Receive an update on public policy events.
  • Approve the public notice of intent to amend:
    • Regulation 8.006, Civic Literacy Competency
    • Regulation 8.003, Textbook and Instructional Materials Affordability and Transparency
    • Regulation 10.015, Institutes and Centers
    • Regulation 8.007, Articulation
    • Regulation 8.013, Specialized Admissions
  • Approve the public notice of intent to repeal:
    • Regulation 10.014, Academic Infrastructure and Support Organizations
    • Regulation 8.010, Common Prerequisites

Nomination and Governance

  • Approve the public notice of intent to amend Regulation 1.002, Presidential Search and Selection.

Full Board

  • Receive presidential search updates.

The Board of Governors' meeting will be streamed live on https://thefloridachannel.org/ with committee meetings scheduled to begin on September 18, 2024, at 9 a.m. The full Board meeting is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. Meeting times are subject to change.
