Brief Description of Proposed Project:
DNR DPOR Northern region to provide improvements and trail maintenance to the Chena River State Recreation Area via a diverse use project to benefit both non-motorized and motorized recreational trail use. This project includes purchasing equipment to groom and repair damaged trail tread for approximately 73 miles of trail within the Chena River State Recreation Area: Compeau Trail (18 miles), Angel Creek Winter Trail (6 miles), Stiles Creek Trail (18 miles), Colorado Creek Winter Trail (5 miles), South Fork Winter Trail (7 miles), Mastodon Trail (12 miles) and Chena Hot Springs Winter Trail (7 miles). Purchased equipment will groom and brush out both snowmachine and cross-country ski trails and transport materials & personnel for trail repair.
