CITIC Telecom Won the First Prize in the Open Gateway Hackathon Competition

(5 July 2024, Hong Kong) On 28 June 2024, CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited won the first prize in the Open Gateway Hackathon Competition based on the criteria of completion, creativity and social value of the project. The competition was jointly organised by GSMA and China Telecom in Shanghai, with participation of 69 teams formed by globally renowned universities, telecom carriers, internet companies and software developers. CITIC Telecom demonstrated its innovation capability and technological superiority in this field as the winner of the competition.

Leveraging on its rich experience in programming, digital cloud communication solutions and product innovation capabilities, CITIC Telecom creates a new concept of "FairFareGo", a fair and convenient ticketing system. This project combines various API capabilities from the GSMA Open Gateway, including SIM Swap, Location Retrieval, One Time Password SMS, Geofencing, KYC Fill-in, Number Verification, and Mobile Quality on Demand. In addition, it incorporates AI algorithms to develop intelligent applications that realises functions of smart ticketing, smart queuing, smart service, which identifies and prevents scalping behaviour, resolves ticket scarcity issues for major cultural and tourism events such as exhibitions, concerts, and music festivals. It also can be applied in smart city scenarios to facilitate the building of a smart emergency monitoring system for large-scale events, and to assist the government in efficiently mobilising social resources to improve emergency response mechanisms.
