Independence Blue Cross (IBX) is working with select ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer, and Price Rite Marketplace locations in the area to help Medicare beneficiaries and new Medicare members enrolled in Medicare sign up for and learn more about Medicare Advantage plans this fall. IBX representatives are now available at more than 20 ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer, and Price Rite locations throughout Philadelphia, Delaware, Bucks, Chester and Montgomery counties. Medicare beneficiaries and their loved ones can visit a store and learn about what they should look for in a Medicare Advantage plan and get help enrolling in an IBX Medicare plan that meets their needs for 2025.
"We are excited about this work, which is part of our ongoing commitment to meet Medicare beneficiaries, as well as their families, where they are," said Theresa Lauer, vice president of Sales and Marketing - Medicare at Independence Blue Cross. "Grocery stores are not just places to buy groceries. They are vital components of thriving communities. We believe that working together will allow us to reach more people and get them the health coverage they need and deserve."
IBX Medicare Advantage Plan members receive a quarterly over-the-counter (OTC) allowance to spend at ShopRite stores and other locations on approved items like bandages, cold medicine, toothpaste, and vitamins.
"The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the government agency that regulates Medicare, has made some big changes for 2025. Your coverage may be affected, and you should know how. IBX can help you understand those changes and help determine your coverage needs," said Lauer.
IBX is offering Medicare beneficiaries a Medicare Answer Guide that gives a preview of the changes coming in 2025. Anyone who requests the guide will be entered in a sweepstakes to win $1,000 in groceries at ShopRite. The sweepstakes runs through September 30 and is open to all residents in the IBX service area who are eligible for Medicare Parts A and B.
IBX representatives will have representatives and information about 2025 plans available at the following locations:
ShopRite
The Fresh Grocer
Price Rite Marketplace
