Roadway Preservation Work in Cambridge Starting Week of September 9

The City's Contractor, Indus, will conduct roadway preservation work the Week of September 9, beginning on Monday, September 9.

A truck will be spraying the roadway with a plant-based solution called Fog Seal. The solution goes down as a white, almost opaque spray, but once dry, it leaves a transparent "seal" over the pavement. The solution cures in 30-60 minutes and its protective barrier rejuvenates the roadway adding longer service life to the pavement. Residents should expect the road to be closed for 2-4 hours, and there will be a linseed oil smell.

This operation will extend the life of the road for several years, will significantly reduce wear and tear, and will also reduce the risk of future potholes.

The streets scheduled for preservation the week of September 9 include:

  • Riedesel Ave, Brewster Street to Brattle Street
  • Brewster Street, Sparks Street to Appleton Street
  • Highland Street, Sparks Street to Reservoir Street
  • Thorndike Street, Fulkerson Street to Third Street
  • Lawn Street, Oxford Street to Cushing Street
  • Harding Street, Cambridge Street to the City Line
  • Porter Street, Harding Street to Warren Street

***PLEASE LOOK FOR POSTED NO PARKING SIGNS ON YOUR STREET. SIGNS WILL BE POSTED 48 HOURS AHEAD OF THE WORK*** All vehicles must be removed from BOTH sides of the roadways listed above by 7 a.m. on the day of the work. Once each section has cured the roadway will reopen to normal traffic and parking.

Please look for Detour signs, Road Closed signs, and No Parking signs.
