PennDOT's Westmoreland County Maintenance Update -- Week of August 5, 2024

Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of August 5. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations.
Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
Box culvert replacement:

Route 1005 (Shannon Creek Road) in Saint Clair Township.
Cleaning ditch lines:
-
Route 2016 (Youngstown Ridge Road) in Unity Township.
Milling:
- Route 30 in Ligonier and Derry Townships.
- Route 2033 (Bethel Church Road) in Unity Township.
Parallel ditching:
-
Route 3097 (Baltzer-Meyer Pike) in Hempfield Township.
Patching:
- Route 30 and various routes in Westmoreland County.
- Route 982 in Mount Pleasant Township.
Paving:
- Route 3018 (Evanstown Road) in Sewickley Township.
- Route 3109 (Fells Church Road) in Rostraver Township.
Pipe installation:
- Route 1034 (Athena Drive) in Salem Township.
Pipe replacement:
- Route 2012 (Depot Street) in Hempfield Township.
Roadway restoration:
- Route 3103 (Swede Hill Road) in Hempfield Township.
Seal coating:
- Route 2043 (Darlington Rector Road) in Ligonier Township.
- Route 381 (Weaverton Road) in Ligonier Township.
- Route 2008 (Jefferson School Road) in Cook Township.
- Route 2041 (Horseshoe Bend Road) in Cook Township.
- Route 2031 (Bethel Church Road) in Cook Township.
Shoulder cutting:
- Route 819 in South Huntingdon Township.
Side dozing:
- Route 711 in Fairfield Township.
Slide repair:
- Route 1067 (Laughner Road) in Fairfield Township.
Road closed. Posted detour:
- Route 259 (Coal Pit Road).
Sweeping:
- Route 70 in South Huntington Township.
- Various routes countywide.
Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.
Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county.
PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern. This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1.800.FIX ROAD (1.800.349.7623).
Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
