Five Associate Professors Awarded Mid Career Post Tenure Fellowships for 2024 25

The Office of Faculty Development has announced that Provost Fouad Abd-El-Khalick has selected five UMass Amherst faculty to receive the Mid-Career Post-Tenure (MCPT) Fellowship for the 2024-25 academic year.<_o3a_p>

The competitively awarded fellowship provides a research-intensive semester to associate professors whose service and teaching responsibilities have exceeded the norm. Award recipients will be provided with one semester of release from teaching responsibilities, department obligations and college service in accordance with Article 15.16 of the collective bargaining agreement between UMass Amherst and the Massachusetts Society of Professors. <_o3a_p>

The 2024-25 MCPT Fellowship recipients are: <_o3a_p>

  • Amel Ahmed, political science, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences <_o3a_p>
  • Joshua Braun, journalism, College of Social & Behavioral Sciences <_o3a_p>
  • Jacquie Kurland, speech, language, and hearing sciences, School of Public Health and Health Sciences <_o3a_p>
  • Hoang Phan, English, College of Humanities and Fine Arts<_o3a_p>
  • Angela Willey, women, gender, sexuality studies, College of Humanities and Fine Arts<_o3a_p>

The award may be scheduled in conjunction with an approved sabbatical leave, thereby yielding a full year of leave at full salary.<_o3a_p>

Call for applications are made in the fall and are administered by the Office of Faculty Development. Applications are short and require department chair/head and dean approval.<_o3a_p>
