NASAHO President reflects on state response efforts to HPAI during NASDA Annual Meeting

Press Release

INDIANAPOLIS - At today's 2024 National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Annual Meeting, the Animal Agriculture Policy Committee hosted discussion centered on highly pathogenic avian influenza and the important role of states in response. National Assembly of State Animal Health Officials President Dr. Beth Thompson shared her experiences with the committee and NASDA spoke with Dr. Thompson to discuss her talk.

"State animal health officials continue to work closely with the dairy industry on this emerging issue and building out the knowledge needed to make well-informed decisions," Dr. Thompson said. "Understanding avian influenza in all species is a top priority for state veterinarians and we appreciate the ongoing collaboration with NASDA and its membership."

As states continue to respond to and prevent future outbreaks of HPAI, NASDA works to foster communication and collaboration between states and federal agencies as well as share information and resources as it becomes available.
