PennDOT Announces Start of Bridge Replacement on Route 4009 in Mifflin County

07/31/2024

Clearfield, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a bridge replacement project on Route 4009 (Waynesburg Road) in Menno Township, Mifflin County, will begin on Thursday, August 8. This work will improve the safety and ride quality of the bridge and upgrade the overall condition rating of the structure.

Beginning August 8, a detour will be in place around the bridge, which spans Kishacoquillas Creek on Waynesburg Road about a mile southwest of Menno. The detour will unitize Routes 655, 4007, and 4004, taking motorists around the construction zone and back to Route 4009.

Overall work on this project includes the placement of a new concrete box culvert, approach paving, guide rail installation, and miscellaneous construction. This $221,000 project is a joint effort between PennDOT Mifflin County maintenance forces and Nestlerode Contracting Inc. of Lock Haven, PA. PennDOT will complete the excavation while the contractor places the box. PennDOT anticipates completion in September.
