State-Approved Cannabis Dispensary Holds Grand Opening in Schenectady December 7

New Business Supported by the NY Social Equity Cannabis Investment Fund, Headed by Justice-Impacted Licensee

The Peoples' Joint, a New York State-licensed cannabis dispensary, holds its grand opening celebration from noon to 7 p.m., December 7 at 501 State Street, Schenectady. The event will feature vendors, food, a DJ, and a live band.

The dispensary is supported by the New York Cannabis Social Equity Investment Fund, a Public-Private Fund created to provide opportunities for justice-involved individuals who have received a Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) license from the State Office of Cannabis Management.

The dispensary is owned by Albany native Danny Taylor, who has 20 years of experience in the entertainment, food and beverage industries, as well as running his own business.

"I am so grateful for this opportunity," he said, noting that the Fund helped him make the dispensary into reality for him.

"I had a vision, but the Fund helped execute the vision to where we are today," he said. "To have people who are working with you with the experience in the industry and who understand the needs has been really invaluable."

He said he is very much looking forward to joining the Schenectady business community, and looks forward to working with the Business Improvement District and others to make the dispensary a welcoming and positive addition to the State Street business community.

The dispensary will carry a full variety of products that are tested to emphasize public health and safety for adult use. Customers are able to place an order through the store's website, thepeoplesjoint.com, where more information can be found about the store and its offerings. The store is open Monday- Thursday 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday- Saturday 9 a.m.-11 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
