Nutanix AOS and AHV Achieve IPv6 Certification

Nutanix is pleased to announce that Nutanix AOS and Nutanix AHV products have been certified for placement on the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) USGv6 Product Registry.

The USGv6 Product Registry is a comprehensive list of products that have completed the NIST testing program, demonstrating compliance to IPv6 specifications detailed in current industry standards for network products. The USGv6 Product Registry helps guide United States Government (USG) IT acquisitions by indicating which products have met required standards for completeness, correctness, interoperability, and security. Nutanix received USGv6-specific guidance and preliminary testing from Tachyon Dynamics and completed testing through the University of New Hampshire's InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL).

The inclusion of Nutanix in the USGv6 Product Registry is a significant milestone that allows for meeting the standards set forth in OMB Memorandum M-21-07 Completing the Transition to Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6). This certification positions Nutanix to better meet the requirements of US Federal partners and many larger commercial customers, particularly those in the telecom industry, who have outgrown traditional IPv4 networks.

The Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) solution, which includes the Nutanix AOS Storage and Nutanix AHV Virtualization products provide a single software-defined platform that bridges on-premises, colocation facilities, public clouds, and edge locations. This integration simplifies IT operations and provides the freedom to run apps and data anywhere.

Nutanix AOS and Nutanix AHV includes native IPv6 support, providing an end-to-end IPv6 connectivity, dual-stack networking support (with IPv4), improved performance for real-time apps like VOIP, and video streaming, enhanced security at the network layer and more robust and flexible support for mobile devices and applications.

As public scrutiny on data protection intensifies, US Government agencies are increasingly focused on building robust and secure networks.

"This IPv6 certification underscores Nutanix's dedication to enhancing our customers' journey into an enhanced, more future-proof datacenter, " said Eric Hammersly, Nutanix VP and CPSO. "IPv6's inherent benefits, such as enhanced QoS and more efficient routing and security features, allow our customers to transition more easily all while benefiting from the value of the Nutanix Cloud Platform."

Customers of the Nutanix core products can now benefit from enhanced security assurance provided by the combination of the USGv6 certification, FIPS 140 validated cryptographic libraries, the DoDIN APL, and Common Criteria certifications, along with a robust set of security features in Nutanix products.

Nutanix software comes pre-STIG'd and aligns with NIST 800-53 standards. A unified dashboard enables customers to identify common vulnerabilities and exposures, achieve consistency with security policies across a diverse IT environment, view consolidated audit security status, support the resolution of incidents, and reduce risks by providing certain functionalities toward the enablement of a zero trust approach.
