Senator Markey Statement on Iranian Missile Attack

"I strongly condemn the ballistic missile attack launched by the Iranian government against Israel today. Iran was ineffective and unsuccessful in its attack, and the United States was right to help support and protect our ally Israel, who has the right to defend itself against Iran and the terrorist proxies it funds and controls.

"As Israel considers a cautious, constrained response to this attack, I remain concerned that further escalation of this fighting will cost more innocent civilian lives. I urge the Biden administration, Israel, Iran, and others involved in the conflict to use all possible avenues to pull the region back from the brink of a wider regional war. Diplomacy must be the way to ensure a future of genuine security and peace for the region and its peoples."
