As Hurricane Helene approaches, the City of Valdosta is urging residents who live in substandard housing or a mobile home to relocate to a more sustainable shelter immediately. High winds from the hurricane pose a significant risk to these types of housing structures.
Several shelters are now open to provide a safe haven for those in need:
VSU Continuing Education Building
Park Avenue Church
Corinth Baptist Church
Residents are encouraged to bring essential items, including bedding, food, water, and personal comfort items, when heading to shelters.
The City of Valdosta encourages residents to take immediate action to ensure their safety during Hurricane Helene. Please stay tuned to local news outlets and city communications for further updates.
