Shocking Secret Service update from Sen. Hawley
Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley has heard from a Secret Service whistleblower that most of the agents working the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally where Trump was shot weren't actually Secret Service agents, but were from Homeland Security. Most of the Homeland Security agents, he said, had been taken off the kinds of cases they usually work, such as child exploitation cases, and received no training in personal security other than a two-hour online webinar.
"And I'm told that about half the time, the sound for the webinar didn't even work," he told Jesse Watters on Tuesday.
So, this is their idea of "beefing up security" for Trump after they knew of a specific threat against his life from Iran.

Hilarious Failed Meme!
Someone tried to rip off Trump yet again with a meme turning the last four letters of "KAMALA" into "Make America Love Again." That was nauseating enough, but someone noticed what breaking her name into two words turned it into in Spanish. It's the perfect nickname: "Que mala!" or "How bad!"

Fake Kamala
Setting a new land-speed record for pandering, Kamala Harris has reportedly used at least seven different accents in front of different rally crowds over the past couple of weeks. One was dubbed a fake "urban" accent, while another was compared to the Loony Tunes character, Foghorn Leghorn.

(We don't want to run a-fowl of the "fact-checkers" who might accuse us of spreading "misinformation" by comparing her accent to a cartoon rooster. So our pop culture guru Pat Reeder notes that, to be accurate, Foghorn Leghorn was inspired by Senator Claghorn, a Southern windbag politician played by Kenny Delmar on the Fred Allen radio show. So she actually sounds like Sen. Claghorn. There, is that factual enough?)
Either way, it seems an unlikely accent for someone from Oakland who went to college in Canada. I'm also skeptical of her claim about making so many collard greens for a friend's party that she had to wash them in her bathtub. If that story is true, remind me never to eat the collard greens at a potluck with Kamala Harris.
79 years
While we were off for Labor Day, Monday, September 2nd, marked the 79th anniversary of V-J Day, or Victory over Japan in World War II. Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945, but the official surrender ceremony aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay didn't take place until September 2nd.
While the anniversaries of D-Day and the victory over Germany get more attention, we should never forget the US and Allied military members who fought in the Pacific. Here's some great information on V-J Day.

It also explains why President Truman felt it was necessary to drop the atomic bomb: the Japanese military leaders were refusing to surrender and wanted to fight a bloody defensive war on Japanese soil that could have cost untold lives of both soldiers and civilians. I urge you to share it with your kids so they understand the sacrifices made by previous generations to give them the freedom that too many seem willing to give away.
