Ohio Companies Can Find Top Talent Through State Internship Program

August 06, 2024

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - The Ohio Department of Development is encouraging Ohio technology companies or those with a technology need that are looking for skilled interns to apply through the College Technology Internship Program.

The program fosters relationships between companies and students and reimburses companies for two-thirds of intern wages, up to $7,500. Technology companies or those with a technological need are eligible to apply.

"Ohio is cultivating top-tier students who are ready to enter the workforce and contribute to Ohio's growing economy," said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Department of Development. "Through the College Technology Internship Program, companies gain more than temporary help - they invest in the future of their organization and help prepare Ohio's workforce for in-demand jobs."

Previous interns have had a range of skills and experience, from design and engineering to mathematics and software development. Interns have helped companies develop social media platforms, mobile apps, and websites, new augmented reality and virtual reality technologies, and implement new software to modernize operations and accounting and enhance cybersecurity.

Companies must provide a meaningful internship experience, have non-residential workspace, and hire interns as employees (W-2). Companies can hire as many as 10 interns for different positions. The minimum wage for interns is $15 per hour.

Internships for this round can occur between Nov. 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025. The student application period will open Sept. 3.

Interested students and companies can join the mailing list for future program announcements.
