Flashy designs may wow others, but I've always appreciated simple website templates. The less information visitors need to process, the more easily they can enjoy your site and the more likely they are to convert.
That said, creating a simple website is not as, well, simple as it may seem. It's easy for complexity to creep in as you try adding more visual elements.
That's why I recommend starting with a template to guide you through your website-building process. In this post, I've compiled 20 of my favorite simple website templates for your design inspiration.
One of the most popular themes in the HubSpot Theme and Template Marketplace, Atomic Lite is a simple, customizable, and all-around excellent theme for launching your Content Hub website.
It comes with multiple page layouts to accommodate any simple business website, plus blog options and fully responsive layouts.
Price: Free
What I like: The hero image instantly grabbed my attention, while the parallax scrolling effect added intrigue. Plus, this theme has a background image in the footer, which is pretty unique.
Relxo is a minimalist theme for Content Hub that can capture the essence of your health, lifestyle, fashion, or beauty business.
Complete with large areas dedicated to images and video along with prominent text areas, this theme is perfect for website owners with a knack for copy. Fully modern and responsive, this theme requires zero coding knowledge to get started.
Price: Free
What I like: The Relxo theme takes advantage of call-to-action buttons. There's a primary button that's centered and above the fold encouraging website visitors to take action immediately. There's a secondary button in the upper-right corner.
As you scroll, there's plenty of white space to give breathing room to the images and other design elements.
The Quest theme for Content Hub is another fitting option for website owners taking a stripped-back approach to website design.
This theme is based on card-style elements and displays images, text, and other site features in self-contained cards. This makes it great for presenting separate pieces of content in a digestible way for viewers.
Create and customize your own business website with an easy drag-and-drop website builder.

What I like: When I think "simple website," I think lots of white space. And this theme keeps things bright and airy with minimal text and one smaller image against a white background. It's a nice break from full-screen hero images.
There also isn't any animation on this website theme, so it really stays true to its minimalist design.
As the name tells us, this simple HubSpot theme is free and easy to use. Its aesthetic is suitable for a modern business/SaaS company website.
If that's the look you're going for, be sure to give this option a try. Plus, you get plenty of templates for pages like pricing, testimonials, and frequently-asked questions.
Price: Free
What I like: The Atlas Free theme has among the most page templates and modules I've seen while researching simple website themes. That means you'll have plenty of options to customize your site.
As a marketer, I also appreciated the primary and secondary CTA buttons both in the center of the page and in the upper right corner.
Generator is a simple but powerful website theme made for marketers who want a codeless experience.
With its mobile-first design, you can be sure that visitors across devices will have a positive experience on your site, making them more likely to convert. Plus, its pages are optimized for speed, helping you to rank in search engine results and capture more organic traffic.
Price: Free
What I like: Generator's demo site is very black-and-white - but not boring. I like the big and bold lettering, the scrolling banner of logos, and the pop of color when you scroll to the bottom.
The Aesthetics template takes on a modern, artsy look, making it perfect for trendy websites that want to use bold shapes, images, and a lot of whitespace.
Highlight your artistic achievements, portfolio works, events, or anything else with ease and with style.
Price: Free
What I like: The Aesthetics theme has a strong focus on images without being overwhelming. I enjoyed the rotating carousel of photos and the visual appeal of the shapes overlaid on certain images.
Looking for a website template to accelerate your service business's online presence? Look no further than the aptly named Accelerator theme.
This Content Hub theme is optimized for speed, mobile devices, and an overall positive UX. Take a look at the demos - chances are you'll be able to adapt this theme to your needs.

What I like: For service providers, consultants, and freelancers, this theme really shines. I liked the "Services" page layout, as it has a "Recent Projects" section and FAQs, closing strongly with a large "Contact Us" call-to-action.
Colorlib also offers a huge library of high-quality website templates, including simple HTML templates. We'll start with Miniblog, a blog template for clean, minimal blogging sites.
If you plan to leverage a blog to promote your website (which we highly recommend doing), consider this template as a starting point.
Price: $19
What I like: Miniblog breaks from the norm by having multiple images in the hero section, which I found interesting. It's suited for a magazine-style website, as it has multiple headlines that appear above the fold.
This vibrant but user-friendly template was designed for summer music festivals but can be adapted for any event website or any site in need of a countdown timer.
It's a Bootstrap-CSS-powered theme, so the entire design is mobile-first. This is essential for smartphone users who want to register for your event-on-the-go - a mobile-first design can have a real impact on your ticket sales.
Price: $19
What I like: It's big, bold, and splashy - proof that your website can be simple yet filled with personality. I think this is one of the best website templates for fun-infused event marketing.
Also powered by the Bootstrap framework, the Minishop website template provides minimalist ecommerce inspiration for virtually any product you want to sell.
Use the impressive default design that the template comes with, or, if you have the know-how, tweak the HTML and CSS to your liking.
Price: $19
What I like: I think this is one of the best website templates for simple sites that want to sell products online. It has an eye-catching hero section on the homepage, customer reviews on product pages, and a countdown timer to drive sales for time-limited deals.
If you're looking for a simple HTML template to build a personal website, consider the Personal template from Colorlib.
This template works best for freelancers, creative professionals, or anyone looking to display their accomplishments in a clean, succinct way. It is built on the Bootstrap framework.
Price: $19
What I like: The animated stats counter, testimonial slider, and featured projects make it easy to highlight your accomplishments all on the homepage.
But I like that you can dive into more detail on the Portfolio and Pricing pages.
Like the template above, Pentax is another option for showcasing a freelancer's creative work.
Pentax is made for photography websites but can be adapted for visually engaging personal or business websites. Parallax effects, responsive designs, hover effects, and a library of CTAs tie the entire template together.
Price: $19
What I like: The Pentax theme offers a filterable portfolio, which I find really useful for creative freelancers.
For example, you can show all of your photography work, or you can allow users to click on "Fashion" or "Wedding," and the portfolio will display your work only in those areas.
Pointer is a modern and trendy one-pager template.
If you're a consulting agency, Pointer might be the best option among HTML templates. The template has essential features like a testimonial section, subscription widget, contact form, and more.
Create and customize your own business website with an easy drag-and-drop website builder.
Price: $19
What I like: The full-screen hero image really drew me to the site. I also like that it is a one-page website, which is different from the rest of the designs I looked at.
Original is a basic blog template, but it gets the job done for most business websites. It has standard features like responsive design, large image areas, menus, sliders, signup and contact forms, and an Instagram feed section.
Price: $19
What I like: Original has lots of images, which can easily be overwhelming. But it balances it out with plenty of whitespace so the design stays clean.
Colorlib also makes WordPress themes for those who lack the technical skills or just prefer to use a CMS. Pixova Lite has the flexibility to be used as a multi-page or one-page business website or blog.
What started as a simple landing page template has grown into a full-website option, and the developers continually update the theme to ensure the best building experience possible.

What I like: There's a really cool hover effect on the photos under the "Team" section that shows links to each person's email and social media. I found that engaging and unique.

What I like: This template is very similar to the previous one with its neutral colors. I like that its animation effects are even more minimal, though I'm not crazy about the main font.
This simple beauty website template stuck out because of its smart use of color and cohesive feel. It's the only website on this list that went with the bold move of an orange color palette (though you can always change it).
Everything in the design is eye-catching and appealing, without coming across as overwhelming. It's a difficult balance to strike, but fortunately, the designers of this template have done the work for you.
Price: Free
What I like: This website template has no animation, so it truly keeps the experience simple. It makes up for its lack of motion with its vibrant colors and large font.

For a while, the trend in websites was to make them as visually stimulating as possible. But, in recent years, the consensus among web designers is that less is certainly more.
Keep in mind that not all of the simple website templates shared here are created equal. Some require coding knowledge, such as the Colorlib HTML templates. Others, like those from HubSpot, can be easily modified without knowing any code, thanks to a drag-and-drop website builder.
