Football fans can now secure their spot at the much-anticipated Perth International Football Cup later this year, with general admission tickets now on sale.

The world's best women's football players will be competing when Women's Super League teams Manchester City, Leicester City and West Ham United, and Division 1 Féminine's Paris Saint-Germain go head-to-head in an epic round-robin style competition this winter.

Taking place at the newly upgraded HBF Park and award-winning Optus Stadium, four matches will be held between 28 August and 1 September:

  • Manchester City v Leicester City on Wednesday, 28 August at HBF Park
  • West Ham United v Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday, 29 August at HBF Park
  • Double header with Manchester City, Leicester City, West Ham United and Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, 1 September at Optus Stadium.

Star Matildas players Mary Fowler, Alanna Kennedy, Mackenzie Arnold, Katrina Gorry, Clare Hunt and Courtney Nevin are among the current footballers who will travel to Perth as part of the competition, following the 2024 Paris Olympics.

As part of the tournament, each team and their players will participate in engagement activities surrounding the matches, in a week-long festival of football.

This Australia-first event is anticipated to attract thousands of out-of-state visitors and generate millions in visitor spend, supporting local tourism and hospitality businesses, and further build on Western Australia's always on, year-round calendar of blockbuster events.

It also joins a string of successful football events successfully hosted in Perth, including the recent Italian football match at Optus Stadium that attracted over 56,000 fans and the Matildas' Olympic Qualifier series last year, which saw a record-breaking crowd of 59,155.

Comments attributed to Acting Tourism Minister John Carey:

"We're very excited to welcome these star Matildas players and their talented teammates to Western Australia for world-class football, taking place just weeks after the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"Securing new events like the Perth International Football Cup puts Western Australia on the map as one of the fastest growing events destinations in the South East Asia region, home to top-tier stadiums, beautiful destinations and amazing tourism experiences you can't get anywhere else.

"Importantly, this event will also contribute significantly to WA's economy, and of course provide the local community in Western Australia the opportunity to enjoy more international football here in Perth."

Comments attributed to Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman:

"The eyes of the football world will again be on Perth this August and September, cementing our reputation as a global sporting event destination.

"We know the world game has increased enormously in popularity since the FIFA Women's World Cup last year, and I have no doubt there will be lots of eager football players snapping up tickets to this Australian-exclusive event and taking part in this week-long celebration of women's football."
