Waynesburg University will host its annual Homecoming celebrations Thursday, Oct. 17, through Saturday, Oct. 19, with a special emphasis on the University's 175th Anniversary milestone year.

The festivities will kick off Thursday night with a Virtual Trivia Night via Crowdpurr at 8 p.m., where alumni will have a chance to compete with other graduates from wherever they are.

On Friday, three events are scheduled, beginning with an afternoon of Alumni Golf at the Greene County Country Club. A dedication will be held in classroom 204 in Hanna Hall at 1 p.m. for The Villacampa Family classroom, named in honor of Jorge ('68) and Maggie Villacampa.

The day will conclude with an All-Alumni Celebration and Combined Class Reunion at The Denny House in Waynesburg with President and Mrs. Lee, Alumni Office staff and fellow alumni. During dinner, all reunion class years will be recognized and a special celebration of the 175th Anniversary will take place.

A large number of events are scheduled for Saturday, including several new events and special dedications.

The Class of 1969 will be honored at a reunion breakfast in the Benedum Dining Hall's Glass Room for their 55th reunion year and the Class of 1974 will celebrate their 50th reunion at the President's House for a reunion brunch with President and Mrs. Lee.

Other reunions to be held Saturday morning before the game include the Baseball Program for a special baseball alumni game; the Departments of Biology, Environmental Science and Health Science and Chemistry and Forensic Science; Department of Education; Stover Scholars; and Department of Nursing.

Dedications of the bricks purchased as part of the 175th Anniversary Fundraising Initiative will be held separately at each of their designated locations during the day. The Cusick Court dedication will take place at 9:45 a.m., the Veterans Memorial Plaza dedication at 10:15 a.m. and the John F. Wiley Stadium dedication immediately following the conclusion of the football game.

This year, the Yellow Jackets will take on Bethany College at 1 p.m., with the announcement and crowning of the 2024 Homecoming king and queen during halftime.

The Alumni Office will host their Wiley Family Field Fest from 11 a.m. until the end of the game at the pavilion behind Wiley Stadium, where graduates and their families can enjoy complimentary gifts, snacks, drinks, games and more.
