NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The Embassy of the People's Republic of China donated assistive equipment to the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), September 9, 2024 at the embassy. On hand to receive the donations were Minister of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting the Hon. Myles LaRoda, Chairperson of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities Nalini Bethel, and Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities Townsley Roberts.

During the signing both Minister LaRoda and Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong spoke of the necessity to assist persons with disabilities, and that all persons have a duty to take care of one another and provide the best care for each other.

Minister LaRoda expressed gratitude to Ambassador Yan Jiarong for the kind gesture and looked forward to the continued partnership both countries share.

Mrs. Ann Marie Davis, of the Office of the Spouse of the Prime Minister, expressed sentiments that the assisted devices will go a long way, and that China and The Bahamas have been beneficiaries of a mutual accord.
