State Visit of the President of the Republic to Chile

At the invitation of President Gabriel Boric, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will undertake a state visit to Chile on August 5 and 6, accompanied by a ministerial delegation.

President Lula will hold a meeting with the Chilean leader at the Presidential Palace La Moneda on the morning of the 5th. During the meeting, the key elements of the economic and commercial partnership between the two countries will be examined, along with discussions on expanding the bilateral cooperation agenda in areas such as energy transition, science and technology, health, culture, education, tourism, and social development. Agreements and other bilateral understandings in several of these sectors will be signed. The two presidents will also address the South American integration process, as well as regional and multilateral issues.

President Lula and President Boric will also participate in the closing of the Brazil-Chile Business Forum, organized by Itamaraty in conjunction with ApexBrasil and the Chilean trade promotion agency ProChile. The event is expected to feature representatives from over 400 companies from both countries.

Additionally, meetings are scheduled between President Lula and the Presidents of the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate, and the Supreme Court of Chile, as well as a visit with the Mayor of Santiago.

Brazil is the largest Latin American investor in Chile and the primary destination for Chilean investments worldwide. Brazil is Chile's third-largest trading partner, while Chile is the sixth-largest market for Brazilian exports. In 2023, Brazil-Chile trade reached USD 12.3 billion.
