CONGRESSMAN BOYLE BRINGS HOME $575K FOR PHILLY COMMUNITY GROUP

PHILADELPHIA, PA: Today, Congressman Brendan Boyle (PA-02) presented a Community Project Funding (CPF) check totaling $575,000 to the Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) Philadelphia. OIC CEO/President Sheila Ireland accepted the funding award on the organization's behalf. The presentation took place at OIC's campus on North Broad Street in Philadelphia. This funding award will enable OIC to expand current healthcare program offerings to create career ladder opportunities in the healthcare sector-part of an ongoing effort to improve healthcare access and well-being for all.

"It is my duty in Congress to pass legislation and provide funding to improve and expand opportunities for those seeking to become part of the workforce", said Congressman Boyle. "I voted for and am proud to deliver this funding that will support the expansion of comprehensive and high-quality healthcare training programs at OIC. Targeted funding like CPF allows me to work directly with local stakeholders-and not some Washington bureaucrat--- to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to meet the demands of an evolving job market. By enhancing the training of those who choose to serve on the frontlines of healthcare, we are making continued improvements to the delivery of healthcare in our city and neighborhoods. And by empowering those individuals in the workforce----we foster economic growth and stability".

"Thanks to Congressman Boyle's support, OIC Philadelphia has expanded our Healthcare Training from a summer phlebotomy program to now include Administrative Medical Assistant (AMA) and Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) courses", said OIC President & CEO Ireland. "The impact is clear: this year, healthcare programs received 48% of our overall applications, showcasing the tremendous demand and interest in our community. By continuing to increase the number of skilled healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds, we're actively enhancing both health equity and care quality in underserved neighborhoods."

OIC, founded by the Rev. Leon Sullivan, offers free skills training and knowledge to help students succeed and thrive in today's workforce. OIC provides hands-on training in trades, digital media, financial services and the hospitality industry.

Community Project Funding (CPF) is a federal initiative that allows Members of Congress to request direct funding for projects that benefit the communities they represent. CPF is separate from federal grants and funding apportioned by formula.
