RELEASE: REP. KHANNA LEADS CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION TO SAUDI ARABIA

Washington, DC -- Representative Ro Khanna (CA-17) released the below statement after leading a congressional delegation with Rep. Panetta (CA-19) to Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, the delegation met with His Excellency Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, member of the council of ministers, and Climate Envoy Adel al-Jubeir and His Excellency Minister of State and member of the council of ministers Mohammed al-Sheikh.

"In Saudi Arabia, I discussed Yemen and the importance of pursuing peace as the path forward. I recognized the progress towards peace that has been made already through diplomacy and open lines of communication.

"We also spoke about the importance of recognizing a Palestinian State and the key role that Saudia Arabia can play in helping to make that happen. I have called for a post-war convening of the leaders from countries including Saudia Arabia, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, and the United States to chart a new path forward. With the killing of Yahya Sinwar, this is a moment to come together and seek an end to the war, the release of all innocent hostages, and peace.

"As the representative from Silicon Valley, I also spoke about the economic relationship between our two countries and how tech can be a critical tool for economic development. I was impressed with the ambition of the growing young population, the push for reforms, and the interest in renewable energy and innovation. Investing in technology and ensuring everyone has access can improve the lives of millions, including women and young people, with more freedom and opportunity."
