Consumer fireworks allowed only on designated days for the Fourth of July holiday

With Independence Day approaching, Dearborn residents are reminded of the City's fireworks ordinance. Residents can only use fireworks on their own property between 11 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. between Saturday, June 29, and Friday, July 4, 2024. Those who violate this ordinance and are found discharging fireworks outside the designated dates and times will be fined. The Dearborn Police Department will be on patrol during this time to ensure that all fireworks are used in accordance with the local ordinance and to enforce violations.

In addition to the set dates/times when fireworks are allowed around the Fourth of July, residents are reminded of the following:

• It is illegal for minors under the age of 18 to use fireworks.
• The fine for using fireworks on another person's property without their permission, including on property that is owned by the City, public, schools, places of worship, or other organizations is $500.

Deploying fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance is a civil infraction with a fine. Further details regarding the use of fireworks can be found in the City of Dearborn's Code of Ordinances at CityofDearborn.org.
