Hickenlooper, Bennet Highlight Importance of Checking-In on Colorado’s Veterans

Senate unanimously passes National Warrior Call Day resolution

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senators John Hickenlooper and Michael Bennet cosponsored a bipartisan Senate resolution to designate Sunday, November 17, as National Warrior Call Day. The Senate passed the resolution unanimously.

"Our military service members sacrifice so much for our country. National Warrior Call Day is our time to show them our appreciation. Let's pick up the phone and let veterans in our communities know we care, and that they're not alone," said Hickenlooper.

"We have an obligation not only to honor the bravery and dedication of generations of service members who have risked their lives to protect our country, but also to check in on veterans and ask how they are doing," said Bennet. "One call can save a life. This weekend, I hope Coloradans will take a moment and reach out to returning service members and veterans to remind them that they're not alone."

Following Veterans Day, Warrior Call Day encourages Americans to reach out to veterans in their communities to strengthen support for veteran suicide prevention and mental health. These conversations combat the epidemic of suicide among military members. Ahead of this weekend, the senators urge Coloradans to check in on veterans in their communities.
