Rep. Estes Comments on Secret Service Director Cheatle's Resignation

Today Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) issued the following statement after Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned.

"Congressional Republicans and Democrats agree, Director Cheatle has not been transparent in the days following the assassination attempt of former President Trump and is at fault for the shortcomings of the agency she led on that day. Director Cheatle admitted to the House Oversight Committee that failing to protect a former president and current presidential candidate from an assassination attempt was a colossal failure that resulted in the death and injuries of innocent rallygoers, and I'm glad to see that she has resigned.

"The Secret Service is tasked with the important role of protecting our current and past presidents and vice presidents, their immediate families, visiting heads of state, and major candidates for the top two offices in our country. With such a significant task, the Secret Service simply cannot fail. The House will continue to uncover the facts and failures of the assassination attempt on former President Trump's life to ensure something like this never happens again."
