Public hearing on August 6 for beach access plan amendments

Notice is hereby given of a public hearing to be held by the City of Galveston (City) and Texas General Land Office (GLO) on August 6, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Central Time, at the City of Galveston, City Hall, located at 823 Rosenberg, Galveston, Texas, on the 2nd Floor, in the City Council Chambers.

The purpose of the public hearing is to allow comments to be received on recently submitted amendments to the City's Dune Protection & Beach Access Plan. The City submitted the amendments to the GLO on April 2, 2024, and the amendments were published in the Texas Register, by GLO, on June 7, 2024, for public comments.

The public hearing is for interested parties to submit comments or statements, either orally or in writing regarding the proposed amendments, only. The City and the General Land Office will not be able to respond to questions; however, all comments and statements will be received to ensure a complete record.

The proposed amendments include:

* Vehicular Restriction at Beach Access Point 7

* Variance for Use of Reinforced Concrete within 200 feet of the Line of Vegetation on a Property West and Partially Behind the Seawall

* Vehicular Restriction and Removal of 1,000 Linear Feet of Restricted Use Area at Beach Access Point 1C

* Relocation of 1,000 Linear Feet of Restricted Use Area to Stewart Beach and Pocket Park 1

* Updates to Several Beach Access Points to Bring City of Galveston's Beach Access Plan into Compliance
