Rains and Landslides in Southern India

The Brazilian government has learned with dismay of the exceptionally heavy rains that have caused landslides in the state of Kerala, in southern India. Reports indicate more than 100 fatalities and over 100 injured, in addition to dozens missing and thousands displaced.

In expressing condolences to the families of the victims, the Brazilian government extends its solidarity to the government and people of the Republic of India.

The Brazilian government hopes that the displaced populations will be able to return to their homes as soon as possible and that the reconstruction efforts will allow for the swift resumption of normal activities in the affected areas.
