Cole Remembers September 11, 2001

September 11, 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | CONTACT: Olivia Porcaro202-225-6165Washington, D.C.- Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement in remembrance of the tragedy that occurred in the United States of America on September 11, 2001:

"On September 11, 2001, our world was changed forever when the United States of America was brutally attacked by senseless acts of terror at the World Trade Centers in New York City, the Pentagon in Virginia, and a field in Pennsylvania," said Congressman Cole. "Today, twenty-three years later, I would like to take time to remember, honor, and pray for the 2,977 American lives that were tragically and prematurely cut short, the families they left behind, the heroic first responders who bravely responded on that day and have continued to respond ever since, and the countless Americans who came together in the aftermath of that horrific day to support one another."

"September 11, 2001 is a day I will truly never forget. Yet, even though our nation's sense of safety and security was shattered on that day, we, the United States of America, were not destroyed. Instead, we quickly showed the power of solidarity, resilience, and unity, proving to the world that, even on one of our darkest days, we will always prevail - a notion that remains true to this day. Therefore, today, we continue to stand together in solemn remembrance, reflecting on and carrying forward the lessons of this tragic day in the past while also looking forward with hope and strength for the future," said Congressman Cole.
