EID Board Hears Update on Three Critical Storage Tanks

On Monday, July 22, EID staff presented an information item regarding the state of three bolted steel storage tank projects: Bridlewood, Reservoir 4 and Reservoir 7A tanks. EID operates a total of 32 welded steel storage tanks.

  • Bridlewood Tank (recycled water): Built in 2003 (4 million gallons)
  • Reservoir 4 Tank (drinking water): Built in 2000 (0.5 million gallons)
  • Reservoir 7A Tank (drinking water): Built in 2004 (3.9 million gallons)

Kailee DeLongchamp, EID Associate Engineer, presented an overview of the findings from the conditions assessment and design work completed thus far to the EID Board of Directors. The Design contract was previously awarded by the Board in October 2023. The presentation aimed to inform the Board of the current project status and schedule. Staff anticipates returning to the Board later this year for construction award and funding. The presentation included inspection photos and a report on these critical storage tanks. Several alternatives were identified and explored in the design work, based on factors such as cost (initial and lifecycle), construction schedule (time to complete the work), and future maintenance costs.

These projects are expected to go out for construction bid later this year and are included in the District's capital improvement plan (CIP) for 2024-2028.
