On June 26, the House Appropriations Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) Subcommittee voted to send to full committee the FY 2025 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Act (PDF). The bill would provide $9.3 billion for the National Science Foundation (NSF) for FY 2025, a $198.6 million (2%) increase above the FY 2024 enacted level. Within the total, the bill would provide $7.5 billion for the agency's research and related activities, an increase of about $370 million (4.9%) from FY 2024.

Section 553 of this bill prohibits funding of several DEI initiatives within the NSF, including the agency's Office of Equity of Civil Rights, the Advancing Informal STEM Learning Program, and the use of funding to "conduct any diversity, equity, inclusion, or implicit bias training."

The full committee markup of the bill is scheduled for July 9.
