Please do not take this storm for granted

The Hurricane Cone Map shows the likely path of the storm's center, but it doesn't reflect the storm's full size or the areas that will experience dangerous conditions. So, even though Alachua County is outside the current cone, it will still be impacted.

The Wind Field Map, on the other hand, displays how far the storm's tropical storm- and hurricane-force winds extend from the center. This means the wind field often covers a much larger area than the cone, showing places like Alachua County will still face strong winds even if the center passes at a distance.

In short, the cone predicts the storm's track, while the wind field shows how far its winds reach, providing a more complete view of potential impacts.

The map on the left is the cone map, and the wind field map is on the right. The wind field map does not show the current location of the storm.

To aid our residents as the storm approaches, Alachua County has activated the 311 Emergency Information Line (352-264-6557 if 311 is unavailable in your area). This is for questions and rumor control. If you have a true emergency call 911.
