TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Lane Closures on Poydras and Lasalle Streets for ADA Ramp Work Starting Sept. 16

NEW ORLEANS -The City of New Orleans today announced that starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC will close one lane in each direction at Poydras and Lasalle Streets for approximately one week to accommodate the restoration of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant curb ramps in the median.

Signage and traffic control measures, including barrels and fencing, will be in place to guide drivers and pedestrians.

This work will require the closure of the riverbound left-turning lane of Poydras Street at Lasalle Street, as well as the lakebound left travel lane on Poydras Street between S. Liberty Street and Lasalle Street. See attached map.

These closures are part of the ongoing Poydras Street Improvements Project (S. Claiborne Avenue - S. Liberty Street), which began on May 20 and will continue through the end of October 2024. The project includes roadway removal and replacement, re-striping, sidewalk repairs, installation of ADA-compliant ramps and driveway apron repairs.

Additionally, Poydras Street Improvements (Loyola Avenue - Convention Center Boulevard) are underway and expected to be completed by October 2024.
