POV: My favorite places in New Baltimore

YAY! Summer is here! For me, that means warm weather and getting outside to enjoy it! If you want to soak up the summer sun, I suggest you spend a day or more in New Baltimore. This has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Macomb County. So much to do and all within walking distance (pretty much).

New Baltimore is home to the largest flagpole and flag in Michigan. You can see this focal point at the end of Washington Street, which is the main street of the city. Taking 23 Mile Rd east to Washington Street, turn right and you have basically hit the downtown part of the city which includes public parking, great restaurants & bars (most of which have outside decks and patios), lots of boutiques to shop and at the end of Washington,

where the flagpole sits, is a great beach and public park which offers swimming, a pavilion and lots of playground activities for the kiddos. You can rent the pavilion for special events too.

This summer, I am looking forward to checking out the Pink House Tea Room with some of my girlfriends. It is on Front Street, just south of the beach and is actually the restaurant connected to The Pink House Bed & Breakfast. They offer tea parties for up to 85 people, depending on the weather. Check out their websitefor more information.

New Baltimore is also known for their community events. The annual Bay-Rama happened in June. The Farmer's Market is open every Sunday from 9am - 2pm. They have "Concerts in the Park" every Thursday in August at another park in New Baltimore called Brandenburg Park. This park is located on Jefferson, just south of 23 Mile Rd.

There's so much more! Try New Baltimore. You will find something for everyone!
