Looking to Get Involved in Your City Government

Service on a city committee is a good way to get involved in Monona. There are openings for citizen members on the committees below. Interested residents should complete the citizen committee application here or call (608) 222-2525 for a paper application.

Applications submitted for appointment to any of these committees in the past three years will be automatically considered. If you have any concerns about how to use Parliamentary Procedure or other questions, please don't let them deter you. We're happy to help.

Landmarks Commission: The Landmarks Commission works to advance historic preservation in Monona. Those with backgrounds or an interest in architecture, history, architectural history, planning, archaeology, or other preservation-related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Library Board : The Library Board is a semi-autonomous body of seven persons empowered by state law and city ordinance to act as the governing body of the library. Library users and those with experience working in libraries are encouraged to apply.

Community Media Committee: The city is looking for a Monona Grove High School student to fill a position on the Community Media Committee which oversees the operation of the community cable/YouTube channel and radio station. High school students with experience in either or both of those areas are encouraged to apply.
