Lane Closure on 13th Street Begins Tuesday

AMES, Iowa - To facilitate the reconstruction of Curtiss Avenue from 13th to 16th street, Curtiss Avenue as well as the outside, westbound lane of 13th Street will close beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3, weather permitting. It is anticipated this section of Curtiss Avenue will remain closed for four to five weeks for pavement removal and replacement. The closed lane on 13th Street will allow for safe truck movement during the project as needed. The lane will reopen at the end of each day.

The City of Ames has contracted with Manatts, Inc., for the reconstruction of Curtiss, Marston, and Roosevelt avenues from 13th to 16th street. The project includes the removal and replacement of the existing roadway, several storm intakes, and spot replacement of sewer and water main utilities on Curtiss Avenue. Additionally, sidewalk ramps will be updated to meet American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

For more information about the project, contact Dean Sayre, Civil Engineer II, at [email protected] or 515.239.5277. For general construction updates, go to www.CityOfAmes.org/Construction.
