BISMARCK - The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) today announced the award of $5,000,000 to the University of North Dakota's (UND) Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC). This funding will allow the EERC to leverage the experience gained through past and ongoing efforts to build a Williston Basin partnership by providing technical assistance to project developers, regulators, and community stakeholders.

UND's EERC was selected as one of nine project teams to perform technical assistance designed to reduce project costs and risks, improve monitoring effectiveness, build strategies for engaging with communities, and provide data to support permitting, policy development, and rulemaking.
