Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a man over his alleged role in a shooting and home invasion of a Lidcombe property last year.

Just before 10pm on Wednesday 19 July 2023, officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command responded to reports of an aggravated home invasion on Raymond Street West in Lidcombe.

On arrival, police were told three men - armed with firearms - forced their way into a property, where they fired a number of shots and assaulted a 31-year-old man inside. They fled the scene shortly after.

The 31-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries. A 30-year-old woman, 68-year-old man and 18-month-old baby - who were also inside the property at the time - were uninjured.

About 8am on Thursday 20 July 2023, officers attached to Liverpool Police Area Command responded to reports of a vehicle alight on Ascot Drive in Chipping Norton.

The car was allegedly stolen with cloned number plates and is being treated as linked to the incident in Lidcombe the night before.

Crime scenes were established at both locations, and inquiries commenced, before the investigation was taken carriage of by State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Lovelock.

As part of the investigation, strike force detectives have charged two men for their alleged roles in the shooting. They both remain before the courts.

Following further investigations, detectives arrested a 30-year-old man at a correctional facility in Bathurst about 10am yesterday (Wednesday 4 September 2024).

He was charged with fire firearm at dwelling organised criminal activity and special aggravated break & enter & commit indictable offence weapon.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bathurst Local Court the same day.

Investigations under Strike Force Lovelock continue.
