Philadelphia, PA (October 17, 2024) - Roxborough Memorial Hospital proudly announces its successful re-accreditation from Corazon, a prominent national organization specializing in cardiovascular services headquartered in Pittsburgh. This accreditation affirms that the hospital's PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) program has once again met or surpassed the rigorous standards set by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH), as outlined in protocols established in September 2015. Key requirements include round-the-clock availability for PCI emergencies and comprehensive quarterly quality assessments to ensure that clinical outcomes align with or exceed national benchmarks.

Nicole Alerding, MSN, RN, Performance Improvement Director and Patient Safety Officer at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, expressed her enthusiasm: "The unwavering commitment and exceptional leadership of our team have enabled us not only to fulfill but to exceed the standards of excellence in interventional cardiac care. We are thrilled to continue providing these vital services to our community, and this re-accreditation is a strong affirmation of the quality of our program."

The recent accreditation survey conducted at Roxborough Memorial Hospital highlights the institution's dedication to delivering top-tier care to its patients. The collective efforts of the hospital staff have been instrumental in refining their cardiac services, ultimately leading to this significant achievement.

Corazon is renowned for its consultancy, recruitment, interim management, and IT services across the heart, vascular, neuroscience, and orthopedic fields. The organization has collaborated with over 500 hospitals nationwide to assess, redesign, or establish exemplary PCI programs. With a rich history of advocating for PCI alongside off-site open heart surgery (OHS), Corazon played a pivotal role in launching Pennsylvania's first PCI program of its kind over 12 years ago. The organization is also recognized as a State-Named Accrediting Body in Michigan and has been a verifier for PCI programs in Georgia for several years, contributing to legislative advancements in Pennsylvania through hospital consortium efforts.

As an appointed accrediting agency for the PA DOH, Corazon is committed to ensuring that life-saving PCI services are accessible to communities throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
