BPD Remembers: The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember the service and sacrifice of Detective Francis E. Creamer who died in the line of duty on Monday, October 7, 1974. Detective Francis Creamer suffered a fatal heart attack after being struck by objects that had been thrown at officers during an anti-busing riot on September 16th, 1974. He had been assigned to an area near the South Boston District Courthouse. He was taken to Boston City Hospital where he remained until passing away on October 7th, 1974.

Detective Creamer was a U.S. Navy veteran. He had served with the Boston Police Department for 21 years and was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. He was survived by his wife, daughter, sister, and brother.

Detective Creamer were laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. Panel 42, West Line 11. His name is also forever engraved on the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Boston.
