PennDOT's Westmoreland County Maintenance Update -- Week of July 22, 2024

Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of July 22. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive with caution through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the use of headlights. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Box culvert replacement:

  • Route 1005 (Shannon Creek Road) in Saint Clair Township.

Parallel ditching:

  • Route 3097 (Baltzer Meyer Pike) in Hempfield Township.

Patching:

  • Route 30 and various routes countywide.

Paving:

  • Route 3045 (Mars Hill Road) in Sewickley Township.

Pipe installation:

  • Route 1034 (Athena Drive) in Salem Township.

Pipe replacement:

  • Route 3071 (Arona Road) in Hempfield Township.
  • Route 2012 (Depot Street) in Hempfield Township.

Seal coating:

  • Route 711 (Stahlstown Ligonier Road) in Cook Township.

Shoulder cutting:

  • Route 819 in East Huntingdon Township.

Slide repair:

  • Route 1067 (Laughner Road) in Fairfield Township.

Sweeping:

  • Various routes in Donegal Township.

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the county.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern. This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways. The number is 1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623).

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
