Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees

On September 24, in New York, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

The interlocutors discussed issues on the continuous cooperation between Armenia and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The sides touched upon the steps taken by the Government of the Republic of Armenia to address the primary and medium-term needs of the approximately 115,000 Armenians forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh exactly one year ago, as well as to develop programs in the long-term perspective. The cooperation with international partners for this purpose was stressed.

Minister Mirzoyan briefed Filippo Grandi on the latest discussions in the normalization process of relations with Azerbaijan, the approaches of Armenia on key issues.
