SCDOT to implement temporary, nighttime lane closures on US 17 in Charleston County

​Columbia, S.C. (September 4, 2024) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation will implement temporary, nighttime lane closures on US 17 (Savannah Highway) from Wesley Drive to Lockwood Avenue and on part of SC 61 from US 17 North to SC 30, beginning Tuesday, September 3 at 9 p.m.

The closures will take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be reduced to one lane. Closures will allow crews to complete paving work.

These nighttime, temporary closures are expected to last a month. However, crews will be in different areas and closures will differ from night to night. Drivers are asked to follow signs that will be posted on the affected routes.

SCDOT asks the public to slow down and pay attention to signs when driving through the work zone. You can plan your route ahead of time by using SCDOT's 511 SC app or by visiting 511sc.org. If you can't avoid the area, SCDOT asks that you use caution and slow down when driving near crews.
