Community Music School Now Accepting Applications for the 2024-2025 Young Composers Competition

The Community Music School (CMS) of Webster University is now accepting submissions for the 2024-2025 Young Composers Competition. Students compete in two divisions - Level I for composers aged 12 - 16 and Level II for composers aged 17 - 21. All student submissions are judged anonymously and receive feedback from the adjudicators.
Winners in each division will participate in a master class with 2024-2025 Guest Composer Daniel Pesca, PhD. They will also have their works played at a public concert on March 20and professionally recorded by musicians from Chamber Project St. Louis.
The application deadline is Oct. 20, 2024. More information and submission guidelines are available on the CMS website.

Since 2004, the Young Composers Competition (YCC) sponsored by Arden and Harry Fisher at the Community Music School of Webster University has recognized and encouraged the efforts of those between the ages of 12 and 21 who engage in the creative process of composing music. This program, unique to the St. Louis region, is an open competition which has received submissions from St. Louis and throughout the world. Each year the guest composer plays an integral role within the YCC, providing developing composers with invaluable one-on-one guidance in a constructive and supportive environment from an individual already well established in their professional and creative field.
