Community Meeting for Neighborhood Road Recovery Project

The City has scheduled an online community meeting to discuss the next phase of the Coffey Park and Fountaingrove Neighborhood Road Recovery Project. This meeting will focus on the Fountaingrove area, where paving operations are anticipated to begin in mid-September and continue for an estimated six weeks.

The meeting is scheduled for:

Wednesday, August 21, 2024, 5:30 pm - online only

Zoom log-in or call in and project information are online at NeighborhoodRoadRecovery.com

At this community meeting, staff will provide an overview of the Fountaingrove phase of this project to resurface/rehabilitate residential streets damaged by debris removal following the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Initial work is underway in some areas of the Fountaingrove neighborhood to replace existing pedestrian curb ramps with new, ADA-compliant ramps. The contractor has already completed some repairs on limited sections of various streets. In areas where repairs were made, crews will return to apply final slurry seal treatment.

A meeting was held in April for the Coffey Park phase of this project, where paving is now completed. The striping of the new road surfaces in Coffey Park is underway and anticipated to be completed by mid-to-late August. "Punch list" items (various items of finishing or final work) for Coffey Park are currently being addressed; any outstanding items will be taken care of before the end of the project. These typically do not have an impact on neighborhoods or traffic. All the ADA-compliant curb ramps in Coffey Park have been completed, and those in Fountaingrove are anticipated to be completed by October. In both neighborhoods, streets requiring a slurry seal application will undergo that treatment next year, when weather permits.

The Neighborhood Road Recovery project is resurfacing 33 miles of residential City streets damaged following the 2017 Tubbs Fire and the removal of debris and hazardous burned material from the Coffey Park and Fountaingrove neighborhoods. This operation resulted in thousands of large-scale truck trips on residential roads which were not designed to accommodate such heavy loads. As a result, the roads experienced significant damage, causing premature pavement degradation on many of the residential streets in that area, requiring major repaving or rehabilitation.

Residents of the affected neighborhood, as well as any other interested community members, are encouraged to join the meeting to learn more and get any questions answered.
