Derrick Williams Receives July 2024 Employee of the Month

Escambia County is pleased to recognize Derrick Williams, Housing Intake Specialist in the Neighborhood Enterprises Division of Neighborhood and Human Services Department, as the July 2024 Employee of the Month.

Williams' career with Escambia County began June 2, 2014, recently celebrating 10 years of employment with the county. As a Housing Intake Specialist, Williams provides customer service to prospective and current applicants for housing rehabilitation programs and assists applicants in the completion of applications for assistance in various housing programs, including the Community Development Block Grant program, HOME Investment Partnerships Program, State Housing Initiatives Partnership program and other community development programs.

"I am truly grateful for being selected as Employee of the Month," said Williams. "Words are inadequate to fully express my sincere appreciation for being acknowledged for my hard work and dedication in serving the citizens of Escambia County. I am honored to be part of an exceptional team and appreciate the support from my co-workers who motivate me to give the best of my talents and abilities each day. I am truly fortunate to be part of such a great team. Again, thank you for this recognition."

In addition to assisting residents with various housing programs, Williams performs research on properties being considered for rehabilitation and reconstruction assistance by reviewing public records, legal documents, and computer databases. Williams also makes inquiries by phone, email, and in person, and acquires title searches or surveys as needed. He also determines correct fee simple titles by reviewing and applying information from all applicable sources, including property appraisals, title searches and databases, and maintains accurate applicant files by including proper documentation of all eligibility requirements and preparing and processing program documents, such as contracts, mortgage and security agreements, liens, promissory notes, mortgage and lien modifications, mortgage and lien satisfactions and other documents.

"He consistently accepts challenges and new projects with confidence, and his skills and expertise elevate our department to the highest of standards. Daily, Derrick works with the citizens of Escambia County and is always positive and friendly to those he assists. I'm honored to congratulation Derrick on his well-deserved employee of the month recognition."

Outside of this normal work duties, Williams enjoys playing piano at his church.
