MoDOT to Hold Public Meeting to Discuss 51/72 Intersection in Patton, MO

SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 to discuss plans to improve the Route 51/72 intersection in Patton, Missouri. The meeting will be held at MoDOT's Patton maintenance facility, located at 33390 Herring Drive, Patton, Missouri.

The proposed project includes constructing a roundabout at the intersection. Currently, the intersection has stop control on Route 51 with traffic on Route 72 moving freely.

Roundabouts allow traffic to flow with little to no stopping, resulting in calmer traffic and reducing the likelihood of severe crashes.

Tentatively, the project is expected to be let in January 2025. Construction could begin as early as March 2025. Work will be staged to allow the intersection to remain open with minor impacts as tie-ins to the existing roadway are completed. Completion is anticipated in winter 2025.

The public meeting will be open house style, and visitors can stop-by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. to discuss the details of the project with the project team.
