KENOSHA, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is pleased to announce a historic gift from Omair Ahmed, Chief Operating Officer of Nexus Pharmaceuticals and longtime supporter of the program. Director of Athletics Adam Schemm announced this transformational donation, the largest ever to UW-Parkside Athletics, which will significantly enhance the student-athlete experience across all sports.
While the specific amount of the donation is not being disclosed, its magnitude underscores the depth of Ahmed's commitment to enhancing the student-athlete experience across all sports.
Ahmed's generous contribution will provide each athletic program with renovated locker rooms, new uniforms, and additional resources aimed at enriching the overall experience for students. In recognition of this landmark gift, UW-Parkside Athletics will rename key areas within the Sports & Activity Center: the main thoroughfare and locker room areas will now be known as the Omair Ahmed Student-Athlete Commons, and the athletics administrative suite will bear his name. Each locker room will also include special recognition of Ahmed's impact.
"We are incredibly grateful to Omair Ahmed for this extraordinary investment in Parkside students and our NCAA Division II Athletics program," said Chancellor Lynn D. Akey. "His generosity will impact students at UW-Parkside, enriching their experience, fostering their growth, and strengthening our entire community. This is a milestone gift that not only transforms facilities but bolsters our ability to provide students with the resources to thrive in competition, in the classroom, and in their future careers."
"Parkside's dedication to its students is inspiring," said Ahmed. "College athletics have the potential to shape lives and I'm proud to partner with Parkside to provide resources that will continue to make a lasting impact on the community."
"I am blown away by Omair's incredible generosity and support of UW-Parkside Athletics," said Schemm. "He continues to redefine what it means to be a community supporter and will truly make a lasting impact on our students. Omair is a true member of the UW-Parkside Athletics family."
Ahmed, a 2009 graduate of the University of Illinois, has played a pivotal role at Nexus Pharmaceuticals in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Since 2003, Nexus Pharmaceuticals has led the way in pharmaceutical innovation, making challenging-to-manufacture injectable drugs more user-friendly and streamlined through innovative processes.
This donation not only reflects Ahmed's commitment to UW-Parkside Athletics but also showcases his dedication to supporting students in meaningful ways. Parkside invites others to join Ahmed in making a difference for students and the State's only NCAA Division II Athletic program through philanthropic support.
